None really know the undercurrents of the relationships between the others. One of them is murdered, and Percy figures out fairly quickly that one of the book group is the culprit. All of them seem to have a motive. Several of the members lie to him for personal reasons, which muddles the case. Which one of the remaining five pulled the trigger? As always with Gregson, we have to wait until the final page to find out.

Usual Peach story. Light read with some humour.
Do love my Percy Peach mysteries, but have to say this one took way too long to get set up. Yes, we get a bunch of suspects, and lots of reasons for the murder, but I skimmed through all the exposition at the beginning, because after a while it was just overkill (sic). Then for the ending, with everything that had been discussed, the reason for the murder just popped out of left field. As a reader, I felt thoroughly left out of solving the crime. Not one of Percy's better efforts, IMO.
